Bill could bring many green jobs to Ohio

Bill could bring many green jobs to Ohio(By Cameron Williams via Newark Advocate)President Barack Obama has called for legislation to turn the nation in a

new direction to protect our environment, to transition to a clean energy

economy and to stop global warming. His economic plan will put millions of

Americans to work building wind farms, installing solar panels and

developing energy-efficient homes. The American Clean Energy and Security Act, authored by Representatives

Henry Waxman and Ed Markey, the leaders of the House Energy & Commerce

Committee, answers President Obama's call to unleash the power of clean

energy to rebuild our economy and fight global warming. Here in Ohio, we could see a flood of new green jobs putting people to work

in a new sector of the economy. In fact, according to the Department of

Energy, every dollar invested in energy efficiency will create seven times

more jobs than the same amount invested in coal. This bill includes strong

standards for rapidly deploying renewable energy and energy-efficient

technology and for reducing global warming pollution to the levels demanded

by the science. The bill will be voted on in the House this summer. As a resident of Utica, I strongly urge Rep. Zack Space, a key member of

the House Energy & Commerce Committee, to vote for this bill that will

reduce America's dependency on coal and will bring about many green jobs to

the area. For renewable energy jobs in Ohio, across America and globally please click
