Our Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Information & Systems Engineer to form part of our new and expanding team. Key responsibilities will include identifying and implementing new and innovative IT solutions as well as modifying existing IT systems for collating asset information, gathering KPI details for detailed regulatory reporting and the production of asset intervention plans in line with our statutory and stakeholder requirements. You’ll also be involved in maintaining the highest level of health & safety, monitoring the health of transmission assets and the review, collation and analysis of asset and system management data, including condition assessment data, test data and fault statistics to determine the health and criticality of our assets.

Reporting to the Transmission Asset Information & Systems Manager, you’ll contribute to the development of the services we provide and work closely with Operations, Engineering and Delivery teams to ensure optimal lifecycle management.

Responsibilities include:

- Complying with company processes and policies, and ensuring adherence to safety, welfare, quality and environmental requirements.

- Supporting the identification, development and implementation of new asset data system opportunities and enhancements.

- Acting as project sponsor for the delivery of non-load related infrastructure refurbishment and replacement projects.

- Detailed regulatory reporting.

- Presenting technical solutions to stakeholders.

- Providing expert knowledge about asset lifecycle management and planning.

- Providing effective and efficient advice for the maintenance and upgrade of SHE Transmission’s assets and related capital investments / projects.

Your Skills and Experience

You should have a numerate background and analytical skillset as well as a proven track record in data analysis and interpretation. You will have experience in decision making involving a large number of variable inputs. An awareness of ISO55000 is desirable. You’ll also be an expert in interpreting and complex data, have excellent report writing ability and an understanding of Asset Management Principles

In addition, you should possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and must be comfortable with communication at all management levels. You will also have the ability to demonstrate effective contributions to a team environment. We would also be looking for the candidate to have a relevant degree.

At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
