As part of the SHE Transmission Business Planning and Performance team, your primary purpose will be to develop, implement and maintain the SHE Transmission Stakeholder Engagement Strategy.

In this role, you’ll be required to demonstrate leadership within SHE Transmission such that all staff are supportive of, and participants in, the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy. This will see you represententing SHE Transmission with stakeholders and industry specialist groups (for example, with Ofgem, other network companies, and best practice forum).

In the first year in the role, you will:

* Maintain a working knowledge of best practice, proposing and adopting new practices when appropriate.

* Continually challenge the appropriateness of existing engagement approaches.

* Develop, consult and agree an overarching Stakeholder Engagement Strategy that sets out (i) why we engage; (ii) how we engage; and (iii) the process of engagement.

Once the strategy is established, you will rollout the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy across SHE Transmission; develop and maintain a set of Engagement Guidelines and training, and keep the Strategy under review and in consultation with stakeholders.

Throughout all of this you will maintain existing engagement relationships with key customers and stakeholders.

You will also play a role in governance and accreditation:

* Establishing and provide secretariat to the internal Governance process that provides strategic guidance, oversight and monitoring of SHE Transmission’s engagement; and,

* Achieving AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard accreditation for the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy.

And act as SHE Transmission account and budget holder for third party communications and/or media consultants as required.

Your Skills and Experience

To best perform this role you will have a degree level qualification or relevant experience. Experience of developing, implementing and maintaining engagement strategy and underlying policies, including securing support and associated approval is essential.

You should be a lateral thinker adept at unearthing the themes and critical pieces of information that will inform our strategy development. You will have strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to see the ‘bigger picture’ and long-term goals in assessing an issue and recommending a solution.

You should be self-propelled by unrelenting curiosity in creating new things, passionate in scouring the world for insight, comfortable in a highly-charged idea-focused environment, fascinated with changing the world and be able to move seamlessly from blue sky thinking to the tangible and practical rigour of delivery.

You must be a strong communicator (verbal and written) with the ability to engage across all levels of the transmission and SSEN business and with corporate support services. Must also be able to operate out side your field of expertise, engaging technical, financial and engineering specialists, to gather relevant information. The ability to influence external stakeholders, and to coach and develop other team members, will also be beneficial.

An understanding of the utility sector (with preference for energy networks) and the contribution of SHE Transmission will be advantageous.

You must be a proficient user of Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
