SSE Wholesale Generation Development have number of exciting opportunities to work on a variety of up and coming offshore and onshore renewable projects. Current opportunities include Consent Managers and Project Managers.

Our pipeline includes sites from the earliest stage of development through to post construction and handover. There will be opportunities to be involved in future rounds of offshore development preparing projects for CfD auction as well as opportunities to further develop our onshore portfolio including developing new sites as well as repowering and extensions to existing sites. Wholesale Generation Development cover all forms of generation, therefor opportunities may also arise to be become involved in Hydro and Thermal developments as well.

As Consent Manager, you’ll provide planning and consenting support to our renewable and thermal development projects from conception, obtaining consents, and supporting Projects throughout construction.

As Project Manager, you’ll manage the development of Generation projects from conception through to economically viable project options for construction. You’ll lead project teams with the aim of providing the optimum viable options for the project which have the capability of contributing to the P+L growth of the Wholesale Business. You’ll also be accountable for effectively managing project resources to enable efficient progress on the project.

A central part of the Project Manager role will centre around developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, JV partners, delivery teams, government bodies, local communities/residents and support functions such as engineering, finance, SHE, legal, commercial and procurement.

We also have opportunities for Assistant Project managers to support the work of the Project Managers.

In both roles you will engage effectively to ensure that there is consistency in the way we develop projects across the portfolio and that senior management have sufficient visibility of the projects.

Your Skills & Experience

We are interested in hearing from individuals who have experience in renewable generation, and more specifically within consents or project management. You should be educated to degree level in a relevant qualification, which includes environmental qualifications.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. A commercial approach to all work is expected, challenging colleagues, stakeholders and contractors to limit risk and achieve viable solutions. A strong knowledge and understanding of governance around company approvals and financial management procedures will be required, as will an innovative approach when addressing planning issues and their resolution.
