Our Role

The Connection team within SSEPD is responsible for meeting customer’s needs in respect of connection to our electricity network, including single homes, housing developments, industrial developments, generation developments and independent distribution networks. The Team Manager plays a pivotal role in managing the operational staff and contractors for the region as well as engaging with our key stakeholders with the overall aim of enhancing the customer experience.

As part of the role, you’ll be responsible for managing your allocated portfolio of contractors, ensuring that you maintain outstanding engagement with key stakeholder’s ad customers during and after the connections have been delivered. Through this you’ll be involved identifying and developing initiatives that will form part of our annual work plans for continuous improvement in connections engagement.

You’ll liaise with key Commercial team members and Operations colleagues to help resolve any issues as they arrive, ensuring an exceptional customer experience is maintained. In addition, you’ll work to monitor and drive success in the delivery of our Connections Engagement plan of commitments.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have a good working knowledge of electricity distribution and Power Systems networks. You’ll have a proven track record in project management both in the financial and delivery elements of the role. A relevant electrical qualification would be advantageous, however not essential. I.T. literate, you’ll be comfortable with Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and Office. Knowledge of PROMIS and GIS & SIMS would be highly advantageous, however training will be provided. Due to the nature of the role, a full driver’s licence is essential.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are important, as is the ability to comfortably deal with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external. You’ll be numerate with a high degree of accuracy and be confident in producing high quality work to deadlines. Because of this, you’ll be able to demonstrate a sound commercial awareness in the decisions that you make, being able to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements.

At Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), our skilled teams operate and maintain our electricity distribution and transmission networks, carrying electricity to over 3.7 million homes across the north of the Central Belt of Scotland and Central Southern England.

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
