Deputy Project Managers - Overview:

As part of Centrica Energy's ambitions growth plans, we are looking to recruit a Deputy Project Manager to support current and planned growth within our Renewables division. With a commitment to build multi-billion pound projects in the Greater Wash area and the Irish Sea we are seeking project professionals who demonstrate high performance, pioneering spirit and a passion for safety to take our growth agenda forward.

 Deputy Project Managers - The Role: 

• Assist with the development and implementation of the project strategy, project execution plan, contract strategy and management systems for project delivery and ensure they get ownership from across Centrica Renewables, partners and the project team.
• Support the delivery of an approved capital project to the sanctioned cost, schedule and performance criteria.
• Ensure a robust culture of HSEQ is driven down through the project organisation such that works by project personnel, suppliers, contractors and partners is undertaken in an appropriate professional manner.
• Interface with package teams to ensure timely delivery of objectives and work programmes.
• Ensure accountabilities and deliverables are clear across the project organisation and there is clear ownership for work plans.
• Monitor project and financial control systems to monitor project progress against target, financial management (cash forecasts and AFEs), and change control systems, enabling appropriate action to be taken in a timely manner.
• Lead the identification of risks and eliminate or implement mitigation measures. Capitalise on potential opportunities.
• Establish and implement an agreed reporting system and format to the satisfaction of project stakeholders.
• Identify and coordinate project interfaces and relationships with partners and key internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate actively in career development of early to mid career project professionals, including succession planning and recruitment initiatives to build future expertise.

Deputy Project Managers - The Person:

• Educated to first degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline.
• Chartered Member of a relevant engineering institution or project management association.
• Strong communicator able to state key project goals and objectives and present them clearly to the project team and stakeholders.
• Commercially and financially aware, with business awareness, and able to apply these skills to realise improvement opportunities through enhanced project development and delivery.
• Able to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate successfully with internal peers, partners, and contractors to influence positive decisions or ways of working.
• Able to work effectively in a variety of cultures and manage inter-cultural sensitivities to an advantage.

 Deputy Project Managers - The Company:

Centrica Energy's Power Generation business has undergone significant transformation over the last two years, and is now a leading generator of gas-fired, nuclear and renewable energy. We have a 20% stake in the largest fleet of nuclear power stations in the UK and we've brought our pioneering approach to the operation of five wind farms, with more in construction and development in the Greater Wash area and the Irish Sea. The opening of the Langage power station in Devon -one of the world's most modern and efficient gas fired power stations added to our gas-fired fleet. Together, we can power over 8 million homes.
