Salary: circa €46k - €65k depending on skills and experience + annual bonus

Our Role

The role holder will provide a comprehensive, professional engineering service for electrical equipment that ensures the safety, reliability, flexibility and efficiency of plant and equipment is maintained to meet the Company’s requirements. A key member of the Engineering team, the role holder is expected to make significant contributions to the short and long-term station strategy including an input to the station business plan.

Main tasks and responsibilities are

-Understanding and strategic management of the asset integrity of the station’s electrical assets

-Definition and implementation of proactive maintenance and associated resource planning, budgeting and contractor management for station electrical assets

-Delivery of projects in alignment with the SSE and station strategies including financial justification preparation, specification, procurement, implementation and commissioning

Your Skills and Experience

-A robust appreciation of the business processes necessary to operate, maintain and control power plants

-Understands and seeks to continuously improve customer service and supplier/contractor relationships

-Awareness of customer and business leaders’ relationships and needs

-Clear understanding of the business processes and key performance indicators

-Understands and uses all Company financial reports and IT tools

-Degree level or equivalent qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline, supported by significant experience of Power Station/Industrial engineering or maintenance.

-Comprehensive understanding of plant and equipment within the remit of the role

-Knowledge and experience on high voltage switchgear and associated equipment.

-Knowledge and experience on 3-phase & single-phase low voltage switchgear and equipment.

-Experience on other electrical systems such as DC systems, UPS systems, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), Electric Motors, Variable Speed Drives, Fire Alarms etc.

-Management of Electrical contractors performing maintenance on critical systems of plant, ensuring work is carried out to the required standard, in a safe manner and a timely fashion.
