An independent specialist environmental consultancy offering services in architecture, renewable energy, sustainability (CfSH / BREEAM / SAP / SBEM) and carbon management are looking to appoint a consultant to support the Senior Consultant on various projects. The role would suit a graduate with some industry / consultancy experience who is looking to progress their career.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing support on projects including energy flow calculations, carbon emissions, thermal energy modelling, large renewable energy development projects.
- Compile reports
- Site visits, liaising with clients, attending meetings
- Work within a small team of specialists to develop your skills in all aspects of the business.
- Renewable energy feasibility studies, providing specialist low carbon design advice to clients at design and planning stages
- Report writing
- Undertaking thermal modelling projects using IES
- SAP/ SBEM assessments
- In this role you will have the opportunities to work on a variety of projects in the commercial and residential (large and smaller scale) development sectors.
Experience
- Some experience in a consultancy environment working in a similar role
- Relevant degree (eg BSc Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Physics, Maths)
- Ideally a postgraduate qualification specialising in the energy and / or sustainability sector
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reports, analyse planning documents, and develop strategy. The successful applicant will be able to provide clients with input at the design stage.
- Presenting to groups using PowerPoint an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience of modelling software such as IES, TAS, SAP, SBEM etc
- Ideally you will have experience in one or more of the following;
- o Low carbon buildings,
- o Undertaking building assessments
- o Using specialist modelling software (IES).
- o BREEAM,
- o Code for Sustainable Homes
- o Renewable energy feasibility studies.
- Desirable further professional qualifications;
- o SAP assessor (preferably NHER)
- o SBEM assessor level 3 & 4 (preferably NHER)
- o IES accreditation,
- o Code for Sustainable Homes (BRE) assessor,
- Driving license and ability to travel to client sites when necessary
