Engineering Graduate Development Programme

Start Date: September 2018

Business Area: SSE Contracting – HV Department

Base location: South East, Hampshire or East Anglia

Salary: £28,400 Plus Benefits and Excellent Career Progression Opportunities

As one of the UK's largest and most diverse energy companies, we're always keen to identify great talent to support SSE's growth in the energy industry. Due to a number of recently won and on-going contracts, we are currently expanding our HV business within SSE Contracting and have an exciting new opportunity for an Engineering Graduate to join our team.

Our core values of Safety, Service, Efficiency, Sustainability, Excellence and Teamwork illustrate what we as a company are about and we strive to reflect these values in all we do. We can offer you a structured and challenging development programme where you'll have the support of the Learning and Development Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential. Our programme is accredited by the IET, ICE and IMechE and offers a route to Professional Registration (Chartered Engineer). The programme will support your career development into an Operational, Technical Design or Project Management role.

You will play a key role from day one. You'll spend time developing your skills across different business areas and will take individual responsibility for real results at each stage. This will involve some travel to sites throughout the UK to gain practical exposure to certain business areas therefore a full UK driving licence would be an advantage.

For this programme, you'll ideally have an MEng or minimum of a 2:2 BEng in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Renewables and consideration will be given to Physics qualifications) along with related work or project experience. You will have previous experience of working in a team environment and will be used to setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges. You should have an interest in the energy industry and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.

If you want to work in an environment passionate about safety, innovation, teamwork and excellence in everything we do, you'll be proud to be part of the SSE family. For us it's not just about being good at what you do - it's about enjoying what you do, too. So we'll encourage and empower you to be imaginative, share your great ideas, and do work that you can be proud of. On top of a competitive salary, you'll enjoy generous holiday entitlement with options to purchase additional leave, a Group Pension Plan, share options and extra discounts.

The closing date is 12th July 2018

Successful candidates will be subject to the Company's verification and vetting process. This includes a basic criminal record check.
