Environmental Health & Safety OfficerOur client a world leader in the automotive sector are looking to appoint an Environmental Health and Safety Officer for their busy plant, located in the midlands. Role ResponsibilitiesReporting to the HSE Manager you will become an integral part of the HSE team. You will ensure that you are embedding culture of EHS as well as maintaining and enhancing effective policies and procedures. This is a challenging role in which you will champion Environmental initiatives and encourage the adoption of best practice and continuous improvement throughout the business. As a result your technical skills and commercial awareness must be complimented by a dynamic, innovative, hands-on approach and with excellent networking and influencing skillsRole RequirementsSupport the business in safe and compliant delivery of its environmental services and promote continuous improvement.Provide input and support in the maintenance of Plant policies and procedures Ensure that all statutory records, certificates, licences, notifications and notices are in place. Provision of guidance to staff on approach to environmental safety rules, method statements and risk assessments etc.Approve and conduct risk assessments as appropriate.Support the continued accreditation to various bodies and standards.Monitor legislative and industry best practice developments and provide guidance and advice as appropriate.Contribute to Plant continual improvement initiatives. Monitor environmental performance through auditing and inspections and make suitable recommendations as appropriate.Assess contractors/supplier of services ability and performance over a wide range of work activities.Knowledge of relevant manufacturing practices to ensure compliance with environmental requirements, risk assessments and method statements.Ability to provide clear and concise reports and advise and support staff at all levels.Ability to deliver training across a diverse range of audiences.An understanding of environmental requirements and their impact on work activitiesFull UK driving licence.*Preferred Education & Experiences to fulfil roleAn environmental management backgroundIEMA certificate in Environmental Management desirableNEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health & Safety an advantageIn depth/comprehensive understanding of implementing Safety and Environmental ManagementSystems to the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards.Experience in undertaking incident investigations and producing reports for senior managementRoot cause identification, analysis and resolutionPrevious Health, Safety and Environmental experience gained within a large, manufacturingenvironment.You will have the confidence and credibility to engage at all levels.Proven ability to work on your own or in a teamStrong written and verbal communication skills and to rationally explain, explore and discussenvironmental issuesStrong IT skills including a good understanding of MS OfficeOmega Resource Group Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
