Environmental Liaison Officer (Social Housing)

Salary: 20,073 per annum
Job Type: Fixed-term 9 months
Hours: 35 hours between the hours of 8am until 6pm
Location: West Didsbury, Manchester

About the role:

This role liaises with residents, contractors, consultants and other key stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the environmental projects and to encourage residents to engage with behavioural change.

Key duties:

. Provide accredited Carbon Literacy training to staff, residents and community groups
. Develop activities and resources to raise awareness of home energy use and reduce the risk of fuel poverty
. Deliver environmental awareness training and give practical energy saving advice to staff and residents including home visits, drop-in sessions, public meetings, workshops, open days and displays
. Explain the physical energy efficiency improvements to residents in a clear and eloquent way to ensure a full understanding of works and impact on the residents
. Encourage residents to take part in more detailed monitoring projects to evaluate the success of the energy efficiency improvements
. Install monitoring equipment where suitable to assess the impact of behaviour within the home
. Undertake resident surveys and consultation work with tenants

Essential:

. NEA Level 3 Energy Awareness or equivalent, and a qualified Carbon Literacy trainer
. Experience of implementation of environmental projects
. Experience of delivering excellent customer service
. Experience of building and maintaining effective working relationships with external partners
. Good knowledge of efficient use of heating systems
. Experience of training residents in energy efficiency
. Experience of undertaking resident surveys and consultation work with tenants
. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and at all levels)
. A flexible approach; able to occasionally work out of hours to meet project needs
. Passionate and committed to increasing environmental awareness
. Full Driving licence and access to a car

Desirable:

. Experience of project management particularly environmental management
. Experience of working in social housing
. Knowledge of renewable technologies
. Knowledge on energy tariffs and how to save money
. Good knowledge of key pieces of UK environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
