Our Role

The Flexible Solutions team are responsible for the design, construction and management of SSEN's suite of smart-grid solutions, such as the Active Network Management (ANM) Systems, Flexible Connections and Constraint Managed Zones (CMZ). Working closely with our Innovations, System Planning, Commercial and Operational Technology teams, our principal aim is to implement solutions which improve network efficiency, decarbonise UK networks and integrate renewable generation for internal and external customers.

Your responsibilities will be to manage, plan and coordinate multiple live projects and associated resources, actively identifying and resolving problems, managing risks and delivering successful project completion to allocated budget and customer satisfaction. You will be able to analyse network topography and customer design requirements to determine the best solution and implement to provide a permanent solution, feeding your knowledge back into the team to provide continuous improvement.

You will support all testing of active systems through review and approval of test specifications designed to prove system functionality across all testing stages. Using the approved specifications attend relevant testing stages to ensure system delivers system requirements as laid out in the design stage. As issues are identified through testing then suggest and/or approve sustainable solutions that will resolve the root causes and ensure successful project delivery.

In collaboration with other Flexible Solutions team members, construct and review new scheme designs, including lessons learnt from previous schemes, alterations and extensions to meet customer requirements in accordance with Company safety, design, budget and quality standards.

Your Skills and Experience

As such experience within electrical distribution networks is essential and knowledge of testing and commissioning procedures would be advantageous. You will have extensive project management experience, with focus upon large or capital project delivery and ideally have an appreciation of PRINCE2, Lean or Agile methodologies; you must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and have experience in Pi, ENMAC or PowerOn systems You will possess great communication and reporting skills, your ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines will also be essential. You will be willing to learn and develop new skills and have a positive, confident approach to problem solving. You must be flexible as the role will require frequent days working away from your base location, you must also hold a full UK driving license.
