Job Title: GIS Analyst
Salary: £31,000 – £46,000 depending on skills and experience +annual bonus
Permanent | Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available
We currently have an opportunity to join our GIS and CAD team supporting our Generation Development business. This team is responsible for assisting in the delivery of high quality, safe and fully leased and consented thermal and renewable projects in the UK and Ireland.
You will be responsible for the provision of maps, plans and drawings to support the development process and the submission of Planning Applications and Environmental Statements. You will also be involved in the sourcing and management of spatial data sets and ensuring the management and upkeep of geographic information, associated with metadata and attribute information.
In addition you will also be working directly with Project and Consent Managers and other team members to progress the submission of development projects. You will also work closely with project consultants as and when required.
In this position, you will occasionally be required to attend public exhibitions to present information to the public.
Your Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will be a graduate in a geography or environmental based discipline which covers the use of GIS and have a strong understanding of the ESRI suite of GIS. Alternatively, you will have extensive GIS working experience in a relevant sector, preferably the energy sector.
You will possess solid numerical, written English, communication and IT skills.
Your skills will include sourcing, management and upkeep of spatial data sets and associated metadata and attribute information. You will be competent in the use of advanced editing techniques and possess a good understanding of extensions such as 3D and Spatial Analysis. In addition, a working knowledge of Access Databases, Visual Basic and Python would be advantageous.
Generation Development is responsible for the development and construction of SSE's portfolio of thermal and renewable energy projects (large scale) in the UK and Ireland.
