Gi Group are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environmental Officer for our Automotive Manufacturing client based in the Seacroft area of Leeds. The position has responsibility for all Health, Safety and Environment functions across the site, reporting to the Operations Director. The successful candidate should have previous experience in a H&S role and hold all of the relevant qualifications in NEBOSH and IOSH. The main responsibilities for the role are: Act as system keeper and administer the Health, Safety & Environmental Management system. Ensure the environmental portion of the system complies with the requirements of ISO14001.Complete the annual review of the "Assessment of Significant Aspects and Impacts". Continuously develop and manage the HS&E website in a format suitable for use by all employees. Represent the UK businesses in dealings with regulators, insurers and external certification bodies.Plan, develop and contribute to Risk Assessment Programmes Advise on legal compliance, liability and procedural issues. Carry out H&S Inductions. Deliver in-house training (where appropriate) Advise on other HS&E training needs, as required. Develop and maintain the electronic "Training Records Database" Ensure all statutory inspections; checks and servicing are completed in a timely manner. Schedule and attend SHE MeetingsEnsure all accidents/near misses are fully investigated. Plan and execute emergency evacuation practice events. Produce Green Cross Posters and Departmental KPI's Administer the SHE Corrective Actions Database.Support the Facilities Manager in managing all on-site contractors prior to commencement of work on-site and throughout the contract duration. Act as mentor to the SHE Assistant. To assist the SMT with any other reasonable duties on request. Expected Standards: Compile and maintain written procedures. Ensure all audits are completed in a timely manner according to the published schedule and that any identified non-conformities are rectified without delay.Ensure any changes to aspects of the business that may impact the environment are assessed, the results are recorded and, where appropriate, corrective actions are agreed. Ensure accurate and relevant information is presented in a form that is clear and easy to understand. Host visits, respond to letters/emails, ensure all permits, permissions and exemptions are kept up to date. Ensure all risk assessments required in order to achieve legal compliance and continuous HS&E improvements are carried out in a timely manner. Ensure the results/findings are properly documented. Ensure the SMT are advised, at the earliest opportunity, of any new legislation affecting the business. Maintain an up to date register of legislation. Seek to provide authoritative information to any employee on request.Ensure all new starters have their HS&E induction within two days of commencement. Develop and deliver in-house training programmes and Tool Box Talks on an ad-hoc basis. Carry out research regarding HS&E training appropriate to the needs of the business and make recommendations where necessary. Ensure all completed training is recorded and that, where appropriate a (.pdf) copy of any certification/acknowledgement sheet is electronically attached. Seek quotations from potential service providers, arrange for completion of works and report to the SMT. e.g. LEV testing, fire extinguisher servicing, PAT testing, air quality monitoring, noise/vibration surveys, etc. Ensure SHE meetings are held on a monthly basis, invite attendees and record, compile and circulate copies of minutes. Ensure an accurate record is made of each accident and that corrective actions are completed, including making "RIDDOR" reports where necessary. Provide advice and guidance to those persons responsible for "Near Miss" investigations Twice per annum, ensure the alarm is raised and all buildings are evacuated. Monitor the event, review the outcome and ensure, where necessary, corrective actions are identified and completed. Update the Safety Performance posters on the business information centres (BIC's) weekly. Produce monthly departmental KPI's and post on BIC's. Update the "Lost Time Accidents" posters daily. Monitor the SHE Corrective Actions database. Record details of actions completed. Produce and circulate monthly reports in order to prompt those responsible to complete their outstanding actions. Including ensuring all contractors working on the site have first completed the Contractor's declaration form, have initial H&S inductions and are properly supervised for the duration of the contract.Provide advice, information, instruction and training to the SHE Assistant.Special projects at the request of the SMT including response to emergencies, follow up actions relating to HSE/EA visits, reviewing safety at the European businesses etc. This is a fantastic opportunity with a rapidly expanding company.
