Job Title: Health, Safety & Environmental Manager

The company is a highly successful training organisation, which operates as both a private limited company and a charitable trust.

Job Role:

The company is now looking to recruit a forward thinking individual focused on maintaining a high quality and efficient delivery resource that encompasses buildings, equipment and robust Health and Safety Management.

The HS&E Manager will support the Operations Manager to achieve the best facilities for the company's staff and our learners. The position will lead on a range of activities that will maintain operational delivery across the group ensuring that the company and all its employees are operating within the recognised safety standards to meet our moral and legal obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all legal requirements and non-statutory best practice is followed with regard to, hygiene, health and safety and equality and diversity.
  • To ensure that Risk Assessments are carried out and remain current on all those employers who are currently employing a Apprentice
  • To ensure accurate and timely information relating to staff is produced for SLT and the Board of Trustees to fulfil statutory obligations.
  • To undertake risk management assessments and to safeguard the Company's interests with respect to the implementation of works to our premises.
  • To ensure all works programmes adhere to appropriate health & safety and environmental legislation in consultation with designated staff.
  • To work with the Centre Managers and other relevant staff to ensure risk assessments are in place for all work activities, external trips and visits.
  • To support with the completion of risk assessments for student work placements in external environments, ensuring that suitable controls are in place to reduce any risk to students, the Company and the work placement provider(s).
  • To work with staff and managers as necessary to ensure risk assessments are in place for internal events (e.g. shows, conferences etc.).
  • To produce reports and deliver presentations for the Senior Leadership Team and the Trustees of the charity on the management of Health and Safety in the Company.

The Candidate:

  • With experience of working in a similar role within an Engineering or educational environment the successful candidate will, as a minimum, hold the NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • This post will also carry some delivery responsibility.
  • Full support will be given in the development of necessary skills
