Working for this global technology leader who deliver services and solutions to customers in several key business areas (including digital media products, display products, information systems, and power & industrial systems) this great opportunity has been developed for a systems architect to drive the development of the next generation of smart city solutions

They are currently seeking an experienced utility-sector ICT Project Manager, a Senior ICT Systems Architect or an Energy Business Consultant with experience in the specification, design, implementation and deployment of ICT for smart energy systems. As such, the role requires in-depth knowledge of data management and system architecture that fulfils information and service requirements of smart energy systems, including cyber security and privacy. Understanding of HVAC and heating control systems, BEMS and HEMS would also been seen as a valuable asset.

-You are an intrapreneur with a passion for adopting new technologies and developing new businesses, and recommending new technologies and/or solutions to customers and multiple industry stakeholders.
-You have a solid understanding of ICT design, implementation and deployment in the energy sector, and experience in the interfacing of different standards and protocols (e.g. BEMS, HEMS, EV Systems, IEC61850, DNP3.0 and Open ADR).
-You have experience in bid-management and public sector IT consulting procurement practices.
-You will bring strong business and communication skills, fluency in English and other EU languages combined with expertise in report/proposal writing.
-You should be able to work independently but wiling to travel globally to help facilitate the roles potential (to Europe and to Japan as necessary)

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

-Develop new system-business concepts for Hitachi based on smart ICT platforms applicable to the energy needs of cities, communities, municipalities and utilities in Europe.
-Drive initial engagement with customers, business partners and other stakeholders, leading to successful project delivery.
-Lead complex bid-management efforts around large-scale demonstration projects.
-Qualify new solutions including technologies in the areas of:
o Smart grid and control systems management ICT
o Heating systems design and planning tools
o Grid and community energy storage systems
o Community/Building/Home energy management systems
o Electrical vehicle charging infrastructure systems.

-Develop alliance partners and further smart city business opportunities across Europe.


Skills and Experience

-Experience in the design, development, implementation and deployment of an ICT platform architecture for smart energy systems.
-Understanding of stakeholders / users within current energy systems, their service requirements and information needs (including security and privacy).
-Understanding and experience in interoperability between various interfaces and data protocols (i.e. interfacing with BEMS, HEMS and EV systems and with established data protocols such as IEC61850, DNP3.0, Open ADR).
-Understanding of data security standards (e.g. ENISA, ISO, IEC) and data privacy requirements.
-Experience of proposal writing and bidding/tendering of large-scale projects involving multiple partners.
-Robust programme/project management experience applied to smart systems.
-Team player, comfortable working in multi-cultural complex matrix organisations.
Commercial and strategic mind-set, good networker.
-Able to gather, process and synthesise large amounts of data from a wide range of sources, and produce winning proposals.
-Excellent English and at least one other European language (ideally several).
-Proficient in mainstream desktop applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
