SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK's largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.

Within the business, our Mayflower division provides a proven solution for the control and management of exterior lighting and associated illuminated equipment. The Mayflower Central Management System (CMS) is operating within many local authorities and other private organisations across the UK and Ireland. We currently have a new requirement for an experienced, target driven individual to join our business and develop and deliver sales within the UK and Ireland outdoor lighting sector.

The Mayflower Business Development Manager (MBDM) role is focused on developing regional and national accounts to identify new CMS opportunities within the UK and Ireland. The MBDM is dedicated and entirely focussed on selling and delivering the full Mayflower smart lighting and smart application product portfolio and make introductions for other parts of SSE Enterprise where appropriate.

The ideal candidate for this position should have demonstrable knowledge and preferably experience of CMS operation and a proven track record of sales achievement within UK Street Lighting, M&E Contracting, Service Providers or Renewable Technologies. You should already be an experienced new business hunter & account manager with a proven “closing” ability in converting large complex solutions in excess of £1m value. You will need to possess strong commercial awareness and experience of sales forecasting, targeting, reporting and be able to demonstrate strong collaborative sales skills.

In addition, you will ideally have knowledge and experience of strategic selling processes such as Miller Heimann, Target Account Selling, Holden, Mercuri, etc as well as experience of selling into B-2-B Enterprise markets. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge in the Lighting, CMS market, and direct CMS end user sectors, having previous experience in leading and contributing to major PQQ, ITT, RFQ, RFI and RFP bid responses. A solid understanding of the UK and Ireland CMS and Smart Cities market, and of technical and operational support offering is highly desirable. The ability to present and demonstrate the benefits and features of Mayflower Smart Lighting Control and Smart Cities applications will be required. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of Energy Related Services and be experienced in client business modelling, presenting and negotiating.

As an individual you will have a high standard of computer (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), writing, numeric skills and excellent verbal presentation skills. You will be articulate, confident and tenacious with the ability to self-manage and act on own initiative.

An ability to construct and produce high quality customer proposals is essential to this role. As client engagement is a key responsibility of this role, the successful candidate must have a willingness to travel across UK and Ireland and work unsociable hours when business requirements or client requirements dictate.
