Mechanical Technician - Combined Heat & Power (CHP)
What is the purpose of this role?
We are currently looking for a mobile CHP Technician to work for the UK's largest water and Sewerage Company on either a permanent basis or temp - perm.
This role is to maintain, repair & optimise the performance of a fleet of spark ignition biogas and diesel combined Heat and Power (CHP) generators. These are located across various sites within a geographical area determined by your location.
Please note, the working hours are 7:30am - 5pm

You will be seen as a Technical Specialist, working in a busy & supportive team. This dynamic area has seen significant investment recently including; installation of additional generators, replacement of old generators and the investment in new technologies within the existing assets. What will this role involve?
This role will involve:
Working as part of a team to carry out the planned and unplanned maintenance of the fleet of CHP Dual Fuel and Spark Ignition assets.
Working with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure all maintenance is carried out with the least possible downtime and within budget.
Ensuring compliance with H&S policy at all times.
Completion of service records and reports in a timely manner.
Proactively tuning and optimising a fleet of mostly MWM, Jenbacher MAN and Cummins CHP generator sets to provide the most efficient output (heat and power) for each site, while minimising the impact of our operation on the environment.
Working closely with CHP Maintenance Team support staff, Operations colleagues and suppliers to ensure all maintenance is carried out with the least possible downtime and within budget.
Reviewing maintenance schedules and working practices to ensure optimal equipment efficiency.
Ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
What skills are we looking for?
Do you have similar industry experienced having worked on combustion engines?
We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Engineering (HNC, C&G or equivalent) plus previous hands-on experience.
You will have excellent knowledge regarding all aspects of maintenance of Diesel and Spark Ignition engines and associated systems is essential including fault finding and diagnostics. Qualifications/experience of CHP systems Electrical systems is desirable but not essential. You will have good communication and computer skills. Due to the nature of the role, a valid UK driving licence is essential
Information & Salary
This mobile role has a flexible base location depending on your location.
We are offering a salary of up to 46k depending on experience and qualifications.
Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota may be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payment.
All necessary equipment such as vehicle and tools are provided.
