We currently have an opportunity for a Site Operative in Scotland. As a member of the SSE Wind Generation Operations Team you will be based at Griffin Wind Farm, however you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of wind turbines, wind farm equipment and civil infrastructure across a number of sites throughout the GB South Scotland area.
The main purpose of your role is to ensure the highest level of health, safety and environmental protection on SSE Windfarms in the area assigned. You will assume the responsibility for the co-ordination of upkeep activities in the area utilising the Work Control system while ensuring Company policies and procedures are applied correctly.
In conjunction with site supervisors, you will take ownership for the general maintenance and upkeep of wind-farm support facilities, roadways and balance of plant. You will carry out regular monthly checks and audits of sites and prepare reports for operational issues. You will ensure tasks are carried out with safety at the fore-front. In addition to this, you will enable the effective inter-departmental working to ensure successful Operation. This role will involve working across various wind farms which will require you to train and work at various locations throughout the GB South area to support our business needs. This could involve extensive travel and periods when staying away from home is necessary therefore, a flexible approach to working hours is essential.
This role can be demanding and will involve working in all weather conditions and occasionally at heights. To ensure you are successful in this role you will have served a recognised apprenticeship in a relevant engineering/construction trade or have relevant experience. You will have knowledge of civil maintenance and construction standards. You will demonstrate the ability to learn new skills including Working/Rescue at Height and be able to operate with minimum supervision. Previous experience on wind-farms and appreciation of electrical dangers will be a distinct advantage. You will assist with the creation of site budgets in line with Company processes. You will have an understanding of environmental obligations and respect for the countryside. You will have strong written and verbal communications skills and be highly motivated with the ability to work under pressure.
