We are looking for a Cartographer to work at the NMCS is the Network Management Centre South which controls the HV power network in England and Wales owned by or under control contract to SSE plc.
In this position, you’ll create new diagram amendments on receipt of System Amendment forms (SAF) to prepare changes to the PowerOn HV diagram, pass completed amendments to the Mapping Service Unit and create new SCADA amendments.
You’ll also be responsible for performing limited SCADA testing and commissioning, record the movement of staff and contractors in and out of substations, report SCADA communication failures, amend external system date held on PowerOn and create new symbols.
Your Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, we would expect that you have understand the role of the NMC and the different staff employed particularly the responsibility for the safety of staff and contractors working on or near the power network. You’ll also understand how the Broader Measures drive the work of the NMC and engage with the Safety Family.
We would therefore expect that you are a competent Cartographer user of electronic drawing tools and competent in the use of windows and non-windows-based software packages. You’ll also have a good telephone manner, be attentive to detail, can concentrate in distracting environment and be able to adapt to varied and changing priorities

NMCS is the Network Management Centre South which controls the HV power network in England and Wales owned by or under control contract to SSE plc. Cartographers support the work of Control Engineers in the NMCS by maintaining the power network and SCADA data in the Power On Electronic Distribution Management System.
