Location: Flexible, however with the requirement to work from Glasgow a minimum of 2 days a week.
Salary: £36,900 – £56,500 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus
As Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll play key role within the Engineering Centre’s Civil Team providing geotechnical support to our offshore wind portfolio of projects.
You’ll have responsibility for assisting in the planning, execution, and delivery of various geo-engineering activities including geotechnical surveys, geophysical surveys, ground modelling, and interpretative works. You’ll also be accountable for the review of technical reports by third parties, including desk studies, cable burial assessments, foundation and substructure designs, leg penetration analysis, and more, whilst working to foresee and assess geo risk and communicate issues to non-technical colleagues.
Your Skills & Experience
In order to fulfil this role we expect you to have experience in the majority of the following areas:
-Offshore ground investigation and laboratory test scheduling, both standard and advanced.
-Interpretation of ground investigation results: unitisation, parameters identification, and design parameters profiles.
-Leg penetration and pile driveability analyses.
-Geo hazard identification and risk assessment.
-Offshore wind foundation design and an appreciation of the common design codes and standards.
You must be educated to a minimum of degree level in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering, or Engineering Geology and have a comprehensive understanding of legislation, design and operational standards. Chartered or close to sitting your Chartership Professional Review is essential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be necessary, along with an innovative mind set, a flexible approach and the capacity to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis in a demanding environment.
