REED Engineering & Manufacturing are representing a public services organisation in the South Yorkshire region.They are now looking to recruit an experienced Operations Manager to take responsibility for specific operations involving Grounds Maintenance and Horticulture.Main Duties:To coordinate all aspects of service planning and performance management for grounds maintenance across the service and provide regular updates to key partners.To prioritise the workloads of the service, utilising staff and all other available resources effectively, and ensure that all performance targets are met on a continual basis.Engage with staff to understand the detail of the service and challenge existing practices to eliminate unnecessary waste in processes and activities to minimise the resources necessary to deliver services.To ensure that the service is responsive to customer feedback with a high standard of customer care.To ensure operational key performance information is regularly updated across the service to allow for timely and effective identification of any areas of risk, underperformance or backlogs. To ensure that all disciplinary and attendance at work issues are addressed in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures.To ensure all activities undertaken by the team are compliant with Health and Safety policies and the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974).To be responsible for the effective monitoring of the service's budget; ensuring that the budget is delivered on target and highlighting any concerns in a timely manner.To organise or assist with consultation activity, and implement responsive approaches to changing service standards through resource allocation or suggesting such approaches to colleagues.To continually liaise with other services in responding to requests for service.To work with contractors where appropriate and carry out all aspects of contract and performance management. To be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective and efficient utilisation of all buildings, operational plant and equipment in accordance with policies and requirements.To be responsible for the management of any buildings/depots where the service is operated from and to ensure that they are operated in line with guidance.To participate in standby arrangements including winter maintenance and 24/7 standby cover.Person Specification:Graduate or equivalent in Business, Management or subject relevant to the service areaWillingness and ability to obtain and/or train for development in this post.Successful operational budget managementA demonstrable track record of leading, motivating and inspiring multi-disciplinary teams to achieveA track record of high standards of performance managementA track record of working successfully with partners, both internally and externally, to achieve common goals.A track record of working to manage conflicting service and corporate priorities.Evidence of placing the customer at the heart of service delivery, including dealing with emergencies.Evidence of building and maintaining reputation management.Demonstrable planning and organisation skills including problem solving.A proven track record of achievement, in delivering local priorities, exploiting new opportunities and winning commitment in a team setting.A demonstrable track record of leading services of the same nature as those covered within this role.A track record of contract management at both internal and external levels.Experience of dealing with hazardous wasteThis role is a full-time, temporary/interim position.
