Power Systems Technical Consultant

£25-35,000 depending on experience (negotiable)

A leading power systems engineering consultancy with a strong position in the offshore wind and power system analysis sector is seeking Technical Consultants with a power engineering background. The positions will be predominantly desk based, but some site visits and external meetings will be required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret client requirements and manage and deliver projects to their satisfaction. Respond to enquiries
• Identifying opportunities
• Preparing proposals
• Undertaking studies
• Writing and reviewing reports
• Managing client relationships.
• Communicate technical issues in a clear and concise manner.

 Skills and Experience

• Degree qualified or equivalent with the Chartered Engineer status or pending.
• Practical experience of transmission, distribution or generation projects.

• Project management or project engineering experience
• Experience of economic analysis and cost-benefit appraisals
• Knowledge of QA systems and document management
• Good knowledge of UK and international standards and codes
• Good general numeric and mathematical skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce good quality technical reports.
• Good spreadsheet knowledge
• Commercial awareness

• Good understanding of loadflow, fault and dynamic calculations.
• Knowledge of IPSA, PSSE or DigSilent and other analysis packages and software languages such as C++, Fortran, Python or Visual Basic
