experimental design, mixed models, Bayesian methods, linear and nonlinear regression, repeated measures, high-dimensional problems as found in genomics analyses

GSK recognizes the increasing quantitative needs of drug discovery and is expanding its quantitative teams to meet that need. As a result, the statistics team in Target Sciences has several new positions for statistical consultants - opportunities to collaborate with top scientists to advance exciting, innovative scientific ideas with the potential to improve the lives of millions of people.

The Target Sciences Statistics team provides statistical consulting expertise to GSK scientists across drug discovery. Team members collaborate with scientists from a variety of disciplines to develop new assays and technologies, to identify drug targets, to screen chemicals, and to evaluate compound efficacy and safety in pre-clinical studies. Consulting statisticians must identify and prioritize opportunities for statistical contributions, learn new skills rapidly, and apply statistical techniques in creative ways. They work with other scientists to run efficient experiments, gain robust data, and interpret the results accurately, advancing the science of human health.
The positions require good technical and communication skills, continual learning of statistics and scientific ideas, and the ability to work with scientists from varied backgrounds. Successful consultants are innovative, pragmatic, and flexible, thriving in a dynamic, collegial environment with frequent new challenges.
