UPM to build the worlds first biorefinery producing wood-based advanced biodiesel UPM will begin the construction of a biorefinery to produce biofuels from crude tall oil in Lappeenranta,Finland. The industrial scale investment is the first of its kind globally. The biorefinery will annually produce approximately 100,000 tonnes of advanced second generation biodiesel used as transport fuel. Construction of the biorefinery will begin in the summer of 2012 at UPMs Kaukas mill site and be completed in 2014. UPMs total investment will amount to approximately EUR 150 million. You will lead a demanding technology project in a cross cultural environment. You will bring special expertise and practical knowledge of process industry to our biorefinery project. At first, you will belong to the project team, and later you will be responsible for the operations of the biorefinery. Qualifications needed in the job Masters degree in chemical engineering Strong experience in process industry in a line management position Compentence in modern safety management systems Knowledge on hydrotreating refinery and catalytic processes, product orprocess development, engineering, projects and start-ups is an advantage. A successful candidate should have the ability to express ideas and concepts in a clear way and realize value-added and cost effective processes. We value experience in investment projects and understanding of process design issues. The position also calls for initiative as well as good team working skills, change management and project leadership in a global organisation and fluent English language skills.
