Project Director - Hays International
Our client is a commercial investor and developer in international Hydropower projects. Based from Europe, and with considerable expansion over the last decade they have plants across 3 continents and a presence in 12 countries around the world. They have a current requirement for a Project Director in Peru.The hydropower construction project is about five hours drive from the capital Lima, and has an installed capacity of 168MW. The main works are scheduled to be completed by early 2014.Our client is the sole proprietor of this project, with subcontracted services services such as project management, design, construction and installation A competitive package is offered, including relocation and other benefits. Accompanying family may be located in Lima and it is expected that the Project Director spends four days per week at the project location, or as required. Key ResponsibilitiesThe Project Director shall agree goals and objectives with the Project Steering Committee/Board, and subsequently plan and direct activities suited to achieve the goals. It is further the responsibility of the Project Director to allocate adequate resources to responsibly fulfill the Projects objectives. The Projects objectives are clearly defined within areas of health, safety and environment (HSE), social responsibilities, quality, budget and schedule. Ensure predictability through open and early deviation identification/reporting and mitigation. Provide leadership, implement company standards and secure high quality execution and reporting. Manage systematically and efficiently contract execution and analysis, with the purpose of maximising financial and operational performance while minimising risk, financial and legal exposure. Manage stakeholders in close association with client. Required skills and experienceDegree qualified (Civil or E&M Engineering), further Project Management experience (10+ years PQE) Candidates should have 15-20 years experience to include at least one Hydropower project and large related international construction projects. (With the project moving from pure civil construction into a combined civil and electro mechanical (E&M) phase, hydro power experience will be preferred and E&M as well as civil experience will be an advantage) Experience with FIDIC form of contract. Active and hands on HSE management is an essential part of the daily management of the project to meet our clients high expectations and goals in a very demanding environment. Management of CSR and a challenging community relation are major parts of the daily project management and require skills in understanding cultural issues and ensuring the use of local as well as corporate expertise. Project management experience from both Client and Contractor side are desirable. Good communication, writing and reporting skills. Fluent in English (and ideally a working knowledge of Spanish) required.
