Leading provider of radiation protection training and advice to global oil, gas and chemical companies is recruiting a certified RPA (Radiation Protection Advisor) for their Abu Dhabi office. They provide Radiation Protection Advise and Radiation Protection Training to global oil, gas and chemical companies ensuring client operational safety and compliance with national and international legislation. Specifically, their radiation protection experience includes:Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM / LSA) Nucleonic instrumentation (gauging instruments) Radiography (non-destructive testing) and well logging operations; Use of radioisotopes for process diagnostics; Use of radioisotopes in laboratories; X-ray equipment used for security and analytical purposes;The RPA will have the following responsibilities:Undertake site visits to onshore and offshore oil and has installations and other industrial establishments to inspect working practices and to ensure that operations are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation. Prepare reports on site visits and radiological audits providing where necessary, recommendations for improvements so that management can be assured of safe working practices and improved safety standards. Assist in liaising with regulatory authorities on ionising radiation matters and where appropriate, provide support for the preparation of the local rules, risk assessments and licences required for the various departments. Provide Radiation Protection Advice and training / advice to members of the group. Prepare and deliver specialist courses on Radiological protection to external customers. Continually assess the market and put forward suggestions/proposals, complete with justification, for further improvement/expansion of the RPA offerings in the region.Ideally, the appointed RPA will have:Degree in a Science related discipline (or equivalent) RPA 2000 certification Basic knowledge of Radiological protection and legislation governing sources of ionising radiation Working knowledge and experience of radiochemical analysis and monitor calibration and practical operations Preparation and presentation of training courses on various aspects of radiological protection and relevant statutory legislation Familiarity with audit procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with customers at al levels and to interpret the requirements of the legislation in a practical manner that is relevant to the needs of the customer. Alert to political sensitiveness of issues relating to ionising radiation Must be resilient and capable of meeting the travel commitments required to fulfil the role.Remuneration will be a permanent local package, based upon experience to date.
