Senior Design Engineer - CHP / District Heating
 
Our client has an interesting opening for a Senior Design Engineer to provide design expertise in the field of sustainable energy district heating, cooling and power systems. The Projects Team are responsible for developing projects from original concept stage through design to installation, construction and commissioning of plant to handover to internal the Operations teams.
 
Key aspects of the role:
 
To carry out and manage the efficient design of energy projects, including but not limited to, the production of drawings, calculations, written descriptions and parts & materials selections.
To provide effective M&E Project Management, including technical, financial, and programming elements.
To ensure that projects are designed and constructed to a high and consistent standard taking into account health and safety, applicable regulations and standards, environmental protection, high efficiency, good value for capital expended and low maintenance cost.
To provide assistance, guidance and training to other members of the projects team where necessary.
To be a 'Trouble-shooter' when problems arise
To maintain and apply a good understanding of business objectives in all aspects of the role
To attend and provide specialist input at design meetings both internal and external
To provide technical advice and guidance to internal departments as directed by line management.
To assist in the production of tenders and contracts for sub-contract work.
To assist in the accurate and inclusive costing of new projects.
Preparation of tenders and appointment of contractors.
Investigation and evaluation of new processes and products to allow their incorporation into projects.
Site management where required
Expertise required:
 
The Senior Design Engineer will be degree qualified with solid experience ideally in building services design to include plant rooms, industrial and commercial chillers, heating systems and boiler houses. Additionally the Engineer will have project management expertise.
