Arup’s Scottish and North East (SNE) Energy
Consultancy team is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy. We are focused on supporting Scotland’s
energy industry in delivering a net zero carbon economy, while developing a hub
of expertise in Future Energy Systems and Offshore Energy to support Arup’s
global clients.

With the continued expansion of our Energy Consulting
portfolio, we have a new opportunity for an experienced Senior Energy
Consultant to join our Edinburgh team, working on a range of exciting projects
across the energy sector.

The purpose of this role is to lead and deliver consulting and advisory
services for internal and external clients across the energy market. You will
have a proven track record in leading complex projects ideally in a consultancy
environment.

Responsibilities will include, some or all of the following, depending
on your level experience:

• Represent Arup as a
project manager in client facing roles, leading a diverse range of energy
projects in the Future Energy and/or Offshore Energy sectors.

• Research and
analysis, engineering design and preparation of high quality reports.

• Integration of
multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality technical and commercial
analysis.

• Support to team lead
on a range of business development activities including preparation of tender
submissions and strategy development.

• Representing Arup at
external industry events and forums.

• Support and
development of consultants and junior consultants.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of
a broad range of future energy and/or offshore energy technologies with an overall understanding of
how the energy industry is integrated.

• An appreciation of
both mature and nascent technologies.

• Detailed knowledge of
specific energy technologies in the energy systems including one or more of
decarbonised heat and transport, including hydrogen, electric vehicles, heat
networks, electrification of heat, storage, multi-vector energy systems, and
renewable electricity, O&G decommissioning, and offshore renewables;

• A recognised
consultancy advisory skill set and expertise which could include technology
& innovation, regulation & policy, economics & commercial, planning
& environmental, and project management.

• Appreciation of
overarching energy legislation, policy, incentives and funding structures
influencing the energy industry;

• Strong domain focused
digital skills including an experience in techno-economic modelling of energy
systems

Competencies:


Significant
experience in the energy sector ideally with a proven track record in a
consultancy business, though transferrable relevant experience will be
considered.


An adaptable,
enthusiastic and ambitious team player who will strengthen and shape the
growing energy consulting team.


Excellent team
working and communication skills will be essential.


Ability to work under
pressure to meet deadlines on multiple projects;


Highly analytical and
digitally literate


Strong interpersonal
and relationship management skills with a proven track record in creating high
value client relationships


Proven success of
managing and delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects including technical
coordination and integration

Qualifications:


Bachelor Degree in a
relevant engineering or commercial subject;


Ideally a Masters or
other post-graduate qualification(s) in relevant subject(s).
