Job Summary:

Our client, a prestigious and world leading multi-disciplinary consultancy has a fantastic career opportunity for a Senior Environmental Consultant, to be based in their Exeter Office.  You would be part of our hugely busy and successful Environment Energy Team, who currently have an exciting and expanding portfolio of work for some major energy projects.

It is also desirable that you have a secondary skill in fisheries sciences, particularly the review and assessment of studies relating to natural fisheries and/or commercial fishing activities.  You will be part of a UK team that is responsible for the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for offshore renewable projects. You will be expected to lead on fisheries related EIA activities and to be responsible for the relevant chapters within the Environmental Statements (ES).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the delivery of medium and large scale renewable energy and transmission projects, with a key focus on fisheries chapters.
  • To provide consultancy level support, as required, to the environment team in their office base and other area teams where specialism allows.
  • To lead and assist with proposal and contract preparation (client and subcontractors).
  • To contribute to the implementation of marketing initiatives that deliver within the overall business development plan and develop a client list.

Qualifications / Experience:

It will be essential for you to demonstrate a good network and knowledge of the renewable energy market.

Essential:

  • BSc in a relevant discipline
  • Some experience in project management and EIA
  • Knowledge of the renewable energy market and previous experience of working on renewable projects
  • Understanding of environmental law, the EIA process, and relevant government policy
  • Financial management and administration experience
  • Report-writing and presentational skills
  • Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and also to work as part of a growing team 

Desirable:

  • Relevant MSc
  • IEMA membership or chartered status
  • Technical skills and knowledge within the fisheries science area perhaps bringing other particular marine niche skills to the team that would be valued
  • Understanding of environmental law, the EIA process, and relevant government policy particularly relating to the offshore renewables sector
  • Some experience in environmental consultancy
