Our client is a leading Engineering and Environmental Consultancy that are currently recruiting for a
an experienced Senior/Principal Geo-environmental Consultant to join their growing Land Restoration & Ground team in their Hampshire Office.
The successful candidate will form an important part of the local and regional team and will play an integral role in delivering and managing the workload of the team. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with resourcing and management of the team's workload and provide technical delivery of projects and technical mentoring of junior staff.
In your role, you would be expected to technically and financially manage and deliver projects from initial bid to issue of reports, particularly in the areas of geo-environmental site investigation/land quality assessment, remediation and reclamation design, contract management, implementation and validation. The ability to rapidly assimilate site data and provide robust, pragmatic advice pertinent to the clients' needs is crucial. Specific areas of technical interest / specialism would be desirable.
Our client would expect you to participate and contribute to developing both the internal and external client markets through strong project delivery and helping to deliver the regional business development plan, including identifying new market opportunities.
As part of this role, you would be required to support the local management team in some of the day-to-day aspects of managing/operating the team. Some experience in this regard would be desirable.
Our client would look to utilise your current skills and experience in assisting with developing strong technical delivery, including training of both the local team and wider technical resource. A strong motivation to continually technically develop is essential.
You would be expected to contribute to multi-disciplinary projects and an understanding of other disciplines (ecology, geotechnics, waste, transport, flood risk and infrastructure / drainage) and the planning framework would be a desirable, but not essential.
A first degree and an MSc (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject and have demonstrable experience within a consulting environment;
Strong geo-environmental background experience and skills;
The ability to complete factual and interpretative Preliminary Risk Assessments (desk based and intrusive assessment) and Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessments (DQRA);
In depth understanding of the geo-environmental / land contamination/remediation aspects of development projects together with an appreciation of ground engineering;
Experience and skill in the design and implementation / supervision of soil and groundwater remediation projects;
Experience of managing land quality issues within the context of Part 2A, the planning and environmental liability management;
Experience of delivering contaminated land aspects of development projects through the planning framework;
Working knowledge of methodologies for quantitative risk assessment, including GQRA and DQRA using CLEA, Remedial Targets Methodology and/or CONSIM;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to generate and technically review reports;
A clear understanding of the requirements of developers when developing brownfield sites;
Ability to deliver projects and work within a multi-disciplinary consultancy;
Ability to write technically sound and commercially focussed proposals based on a clear understanding of the clients requirements;
Experienced project manager able to lead technical (and potentially multi-disciplinary) project teams;
Ability to provide technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced staff;
Strong track record in managing time / tasks and maintaining budget control; and
Desire to be involved with local team strategy & management
