SUMMARY

A Senior Substation Primary Plant Engineer is required for a lead role within a major maintenance and construction service provider to the power, transmission and distribution market.

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will be responsible for the delivery of Substation Primary Plant designs for various clients with voltages ranging from 11kV to 400kV whilst providing support to other engineers within the Engineering Department.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate for this position will have a proved track record of Substation Primary Plant designs for Voltages ranging from 11kV to 400kV and understanding of UK Specifications and Client Specifications. You'll have experience  providing engineering support for tenders to foresee design problems and to ensure budgets and project programmes are accurate; creating Project Design Intent Documents and Project Specific Design Risk Assessments with an Understanding of CDM regulations and Health and Safety Legislation; Substation Layout Designs, detailing all Primary Plant and Electrical Clearances; co-ordinating the Primary Design with other disciplines and departments; preparing Busbar & Connector schedules and liaising with manufacturers; preparing Busbar electro-mechanical calculations to client requirements; HV Cable Design / routing and cable rating calculations; understanding earthing studies and creating earthing designs to suit a variety of conditions.A relevant engineering degree is highly desirable with professional registration to IEng or Ceng.
