 1.0 PURPOSE 
This job specification details the requirements for the role of SHE Co-ordinator. The position reports to the 
SHEQ Manager. 
 
2.0 PRIMARY ROLE OBJECTIVES 
In line with business & legislative requirements, to support the SHEQ Manager in implementing and achieving SHE philosophy, strategy & actions. 
To encourage and promote positive safety actions and behaviours and to provide support as required. 
 
3.0 MAJOR DUTIES 
Ø To work effectively and positively with all px employees, customers, contractors and visitors to promote a positive safety culture and awareness. To ensure awareness of personal SHE responsibilities to themselves, their colleagues and the business. 
Ø To provide relevant and accurate SHE advice, information and guidance to both the company and contract personnel. To include direction on company procedure, current and future legislative compliance requirements, changes and amendments. 
Ø To positively represent the company and the SHE team at internal and external forums requiring a SHE presence. To provide positive contributions, completion of actions and timely reporting to other employees. 
Ø To undertake accurate audits, assessments and inspections to the required standards and timescales, communicating and closing-out action points to completion. 
Ø To review external audit and inspection reports, communicating and ensuring closeout of action points. As required, to best represent px ’s interests and support external auditors and inspectors. 
Ø To undertake investigations into incidents, preparing accurate and timely reports and ensuring appropriate communication and close out of recommendations. 
Ø To prepare timely and accurate information for the SHE communication mechanisms. To include reports, manuals, newsletters, electronic communications, meetings, documentation an training sessions, that both the business and external agencies require. 
Ø As required, to act as a focal point for recognised external authorities, such as enforcement and legislative authorities, with regard to SHE matters. 
Ø As required, to undertake assigned projects and investigations, providing realistic recommendations in line with legislative and business requirements, enabling improvements. 
KNOWLEDGE,

Qualifications:
 
ESSENTIAL
 
NEBOSH General certificate 
Minimum of 3 GCSE’s 
 
DESIRABLE 
 
PTLLS 
Degree qualified. 
NEBOSH Construction Environmental 
Fire Safety Management 
IEMA 
 
Experience: 
ESSENTIAL 
Minimum of 3 years successful contribution & work experience in a 24/7 commercial operations environment in a Health and Safety role.
 
DESIRABLE 
Gas, Biodiesel, Power generation operational knowledge & work experience. 
Previous experience of H&S Training delivery. 
Assessment/verification of employee competence to agreed standards. 
Project / case management of incidents, including liaison with relevant external authorities. 
 
Knowledge:
 
ESSENTIAL 
Up to date knowledge of UK legislation regarding SHE requirements. 
SHE auditing best practice current trends and issues. 
Permit to work systems. 
Risk assessment best practice techniques. 
Plant health & safety systems & procedures. 
 
DESIRABLE
An up to date knowledge of the energy industry, its key business and commercial drivers. 
Energy industry health and safety specific risk requirements. 
Working knowledge of quality systems, ensuring compliance, identifying risk & driving improvement. 
Software Knowledge:

Microsoft Office- Word, Excel. 
Power Point intermediate.
