We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced utility sector Project Manager or a Senior Energy Consultant, reporting to the Head of Smart Cities Energy Group, with an engineering background and experience in the field of automation and control systems, and energy storage solutions.
The role requires in-depth understanding of ICT, including knowledge of PLCs, SCADA and DMS at the design, implementation and operations level. Understanding of HVAC and heating systems design would also be seen as a valuable asset.
Business Group Overview
The Group consistently seeks sponsorship for client engagements related to the architecture and commercialisation of innovative solutions in the smart energy infrastructure space, including information & control systems applied to smart grids and smart communities. The Group manages the entire business creation lifecycle, starting with the development of a business plan and building up alliance partners, to fund raising and system-level project design and solution delivery - driving innovation to produce and manage new business ventures.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Develop new system-business concepts based on smart infrastructure applicable to the energy needs of cities, municipalities and utilities in Europe.
-Drive initial engagement with customers, partners and other stakeholders, leading to project delivery.
-Lead bid-management for efforts around tendering and sales.
-Qualify new solutions including technologies in the areas of:
-Smart grid and control systems management ICT
-Heating systems design and planning tools
-Grid and community energy storage systems
-Community/Building/Home energy management systems
-Electrical vehicle charging infrastructure systems.
-Develop alliance partners and further smart city business opportunities across Europe.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate for this role will possess the following:
-Be an intrapreneur with a passion for adopting new technologies and developing new businesses, and recommending new technologies and/or solutions to customers and multiple industry stakeholders.
-Have a solid understanding of UK/EU energy policy and governmental regulations at the distribution network level.
-Have experience in bid-management and public sector procurement practices.
-Strong business and communication skills.
-Previous experience in a DNO and/or energy consulting practice.
-Understanding of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air-conditioning) at the heating systems design level.
-Experience of proposal writing and bidding/tendering of large-scale projects involving multiple partners.
-Knowledge of UK/EU energy policy/governmental regulations and market trends.
-Robust programme/project management and supervisory experience applied to smart systems.
-Team player, comfortable working in multi-cultural complex matrix organisations.
-Commercial and strategic mind-set, good networker.
-Able to gather, process and synthesise large amounts of data from a wide range of sources, and produce winning proposals.
-Excellent English and at least one other European language (ideally several).
