Substation Project Engineer - Overview

Centrica Energy requires a Substation Project Engineer to work at our Head Office in Windsor, Berkshire. The Substation Project Engineer will support offshore wind farm projects with advice on and management of all matters related to Offshore Substation platform and foundation design, Offshore substation Transport and Installation design, integration of electrical works and electrical equipment including primary plant into the structure, getting the Offshore Platform certified to relevant structural codes.

Substation Project Engineer - The Role

• Be the first point of contact for all platform matters.
• Provide technical design support on any aspect of the structural system.
• Manage and undertake due diligence of consultants employed to support the team on any platform technical matters e.g. Cathodic Protection system, coating system, piling design etc.
• Develop contract documents including Scope of Work and Technical Requirements for Offshore Substation Platform, and Transport and Installation.
• Undertake technical evaluations of tender bids.
• Manage interface and technical query processes.
• Liaise with Certification Body regarding technical aspects of primary structural design.
• Review platform specifications and ensure all non-electrical equipment supplied to the package is compliant with the contract.
• Monitor works for safety performance, programme compliance and quality of build.
• Arrange, attend and write minutes for progress and co-ordination meetings with Contractors, and interfacing parties.
• Assist in assessing and mitigating risk within the Contracts.

Substation Project Engineer - The Person

• Technical/Educational: Degree Educated Chartered Engineer
• Experience: Knowledge of the Renewable Energy or Oil & Gas sector. Experience of working in project environment. A strong understand of on & offshore engineering from a commercial & technical perspective
• Relationship: Strong communication skills & ability to work as part of a team. Good relationship building across all levels.
