Job Title: Technical Analyst
Location: Glasgow / Dublin
Salary: Up to £47,900/€69,500 depending on skills and experience + excellent benefits + annual bonus
Permanent Full Time Hours with flexible working patterns available
The Role
Reporting to the Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for delivering analysis reports and undertaking research and development in support of SSE’s onshore and offshore wind development portfolio. Your analysis will be key to finalising decisions on the design and development of our wind farms projects.
The team’s core functions include analysing measured wind data; producing wind farm layout designs; conducting wind flow, energy and noise modelling; performing turbine suitability assessments and analysing data from operational wind farms. You will contribute to these activities as well as working on developing the team’s methodologies and analytical capabilities.
Your Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone who is educated to degree level or similar in physical science or engineering. You’ll have a high level of numerical and computer literacy and be comfortable with data processing and analysis. Familiarity with industry standard wind analysis software, CFD (specifically, ANSYS CFX), Matlab and vb.net are all beneficial.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential as you’ll be required to communicate to a variety of stakeholders and interact with multi-disciplined project teams. You should also have the ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong report writing skills. It is also imperative that you be enthusiastic about working at the cutting edge of best-practice and seeking out innovative solutions to complex problems during a crucial period for the wind industry.
From time to time you’ll visit the sites you support, so you should be open to travel and have, or are willing to obtain, a full driving licence.
