Salary: £31,500 – £47,900 depending on skills and experience + benefits + + annual bonus

The Role

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for delivering analysis reports and undertaking research and development in support of SSE’s onshore and offshore wind development portfolio. Your analysis will inform key decisions on the design and development of our wind farms projects.

The team’s core functions are analysing measured wind data; producing wind farm layout designs; conducting wind flow, energy and noise modelling; performing turbine suitability assessments and analysing data from operational wind farms. You will contribute to these activities as well as working on developing the team’s methodologies and analytical capabilities.

Your Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone who is educated to degree level in a physical science or engineering discipline. You will need to be highly numerical and computer literate, and comfortable with data processing and analysis. Familiarity with industry standard wind analysis software, CFD (specifically, ANSYS CFX), Matlab and vb.net are all beneficial.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential as you’ll be required to communicate to a variety of stakeholders and interact with multi-disciplined project teams. You must also be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and have strong report writing skills.

As a person, you’ll be enthusiastic about working at the cutting edge of best-practice, seeking out innovative solutions to complex problems during a crucial period for the wind industry.

From time to time you will be required to visit the sites you support, so it is desirable that you can travel and have, or are willing to obtain, a full UK driving licence.
