Overall purpose: To establish, build and lead on all aspects of Renewable World's technical functional area including: strategic input; feasibility assessments; identification of technology and suppliers; performance rating and energy output; lifecycle,
Maintenance, planning and implementation; and capacity building, training and knowledge transfer.
Background to the organization
Our client is an international charity, which works in Africa, Asia and Central America to tackle poverty by developing the provision of affordable renewable energy services.
They support local partners to establish small-scale renewable energy services in remote, off-grid settings with populations who presently cannot afford or are not serviced by private energy
The company's unique relationship with the UK and European Renewable Energy industry allows us to leverage funds, skills, expertise and resources to support and develop our work.
They provide partners with a combination of financing, capacity building and sharing of knowledge to enhance effective implementation of small-scale wind, hydro, solar and biogas energy, and improve opportunities for income generation, increased access to education and improved access to health services.
Main duties and responsibilities
Establish, build and lead on all aspects of the technical function
To lead and drive the development of the technical function in line with Renewable World's strategic and business plans and values
To work closely and collaboratively with the Programme Development Director to assist in the delivery of cohesive, high quality, high impact programmes.
To work on behalf of the Senior Management Team to assess and evaluate the company's technical needs
Prioritise initial activities and progress within budgetary and operational requirements
Advise on progress and consult with Senior Management Team at critical decision points.
Manage and deliver on the technical contribution of its programme to partners in East
Africa, South Asia and Central America
Responsible for managing relationships with programme partners, the Programme team, and with corporate and academic supporters to build the technical capacity of partner organizations.
Design and roll out technical capacity building modules for partners and programme team
Use the learning from the above process to direct the strategic development of the technical function
