Salary: £44,195 – £58,371 depending on skills and experience

Our network is in a period of rapid expansion in response to the significant growth in renewable generation connections meeting the UK climate change and renewable generation targets. This expansion includes the introduction of new technologies such as DC Subsea Links alongside circuit upgrades such as the Beauly / Denny 400 kV reinforcement.
Due to this growth, we have an exciting and challenging opportunity for Transmission Control Engineer based within our Transmission Control Centre in Perth. We're looking for an experienced engineer to join our day team who will ensure that these changes are safely delivered onto the live network within the control centre. This role will involve the coordination of commissioning programs and operational data, power system analysis and ensuring the provision of appropriate SCADA displays and PSS/E models prior to network changes. In real time, commissioning and switching up to 400kV with the opportunity of moving to the next level.
Your Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an HNC in electrical engineering and will have been authorised to SAP level. You'll have a background in power system operation and you'll have good communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders. We're looking for a team player who will work well in a knowledge sharing culture. You'll be able to demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach to work in order to achieve results and you'll thrive working under pressure.

Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
