Waste Operations Manager (6 Month Contract)
London
£ 35-40,000 pro rata
An independent waste management company has recently acquired various HWRC sites(Household Waste Recycling Centres) and is recruiting for an interim operations manager to ensure the smooth transfer of all processes.
Responsibilities
- Manage the integration of multiple Household Waste and Recycling Sites to ensure an uneventful transition from the current contractor to the company.
- Establish and maintain current service levels.
- Manage the individual sites and personnel to ensure objectives and KPIs are communicated, understood and met.
- Ensure each site's safety systems work and enhance these where risk assessment indicates improvement is necessary.
- Provide the data and monitor the site budgets and develop forecasts.
- Provide for the Commercial Department the list of tonnages per recyclate type and assist in obtaining improved revenues through improved values.
Skills required
· Waste operations management experience (eg site or facilities manager)
- Strong people management and influencing skills ( able to deal with potentially unhappy workforce)
- Project management
- Experience of acquiring/ transferring/ integrating a new labour force
- Financial budgeting and forecasting
- Sound knowledge and understanding of operational health and safety issues and requirements
- Good understanding of Environment Agency licensing/ permit issues
