WIND TURBINE SAFETY ENGINEER

WHOLESALE – RENEWABLE OPERATIONS

LOWESTOFT

SALARY £34,123 - £45,066

DEPENDING ON SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

At SSE we believe in making a difference. Our job is to provide the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way. That's why we've invested over £1 billion in UK infrastructure in the past year alone, paid £1 billion in taxes since 2011, employ over 19,000 people, and we’re ranked the largest FTSE 100 company from revenues derived solely in the UK and Ireland.

Our Renewable Operations business operates around 2000MW of onshore wind and 500MW of offshore wind capacity. We also operate 1,150MW of conventional hydro capacity across 50 hydro electric power stations.

You will take responsibility for the implementation of wind turbine safety rules at all Offshore sites and a number of identified Onshore sites. This will include reviewing and carrying out safety audits to ensure all work complies with safety standards, ensuring records are maintained and carrying out authorisations for all SSE and contract staff. Whilst on-site you will observe staff to identify and carry out any further training requirements. You will also be required to produce monthly and ah-hoc reports on the work you have carried out.

Working with the site operational team you will support them in fault finding and carrying out planned and unplanned work. Working with the site SHE team you will carry out investigations into incidents and ensure SEARS closed out on time.

To be successful in this role you will have previous experience of working Offshore with Siemens 3.6 MW WTG products. Due to your previous experience you will have a good understanding of all safety rules relating to the wind industry and be confident in carrying out audits. You will have strong communication and leadership skills to ensure work carried out meets industry and company standards.

Flexible working patterns can be considered for this role

Closing date for applications is 11th of December

If successful we will ask you to complete verification and vetting process. This will include a basic criminal record check.
