At Churchill Falls, the focus is on delivering safe, high-quality and reliable power to customers while ensuring future generations benefit from this world-class provincial resource through long-term asset management. Nalcor&#039;s Churchill Falls division is now looking for a Station Operator to help oversee the hydro power station.

Reporting to the Plant Operations Supervisor, the Station Operator will be tasked with the responsibility of operating and carrying out regular inspections of all generation, transmission and distribution facilities and identifying and reporting deficiencies. This position will be accountable for preparing, checking, issuing, and if necessary, compiling and verifying work permits, switching orders and associated forms such as condition guarantees and work authorizations. They will also be required to read and report kwh from meters, and assist in the preparation of daily production reports and system trouble reports. 

The ideal candidate will have a Journeyperson Certificate as a Power System Operator, preferably through an apprenticeship program or an equivalent certificate. One year of operations experience, within a Hydro Electric Plant System, following certification, is required.  A thorough knowledge of all trade related safety and operating regulations is a must, as well the candidate must possess an appropriate valid driver&#039;s licence.
