Greens offer new eco-energy jobs
Green Party candidate Jake Griffiths condemns the Welsh Assembly Government's record on renewable energy
The Wales Green Party has launched its European elections manifesto by setting out a 'green recovery package' which it says would create 50,000 jobs in Wales.
The party says its vision is the best way to tackle the recession and the only way to tackle the climate crisis.
The party has four candidates standing in on 4 June. In 2004, the Greens came sixth in Wales with 4% of the vote.
Lead candidate Jake Griffiths launched the party's manifesto at a solar power manufacturer in Cardiff.
The party is calling for a big national effort to rebuild and transform Britain's economy, industry, financial services and public transport infrastructure, putting the UK economy on "something like a war footing".

It would lead to a rapid growth of low-carbon industries like wind-turbine and solar panel manufacture and would mean building more trains, trams and buses for a revolution in public transport, said the party.

Mr Griffiths said: "We are hearing on the news day-in, day-out, the problems with the economy, the environmental problems and we feel that the Green Party has got a set of policies that really tackle those issues.
"We feel that there is an opportunity for 5,000 to 10,000 jobs to be created in Wales through use of renewable energies."
"Overall, through our policies we estimate that we could be looking at 50,000 jobs being created in Wales over the next two or three years if we were to put our policies in place."
The Wales Green Party said its vision provides an antidote to widespread apathy, cynicism and disenchantment with politics.
Jake Griffiths added, "There are huge challenges ahead and we feel that the other parties, Labour and Plaid Cymru, just are not rising up to these challenges."
