The latest renewable energy appointments from around the world:
Ricardo UK, provider of technology, product innovation, engineering solutions and strategic consulting, has strengthened its global clean energy team by appointing Richard Jones as chief engineer, wind energy. Jones joins Ricardo from BP Alternative Energy, where he was development engineering manager - wind.
Renewable energy distributor, Good Energy, has named Barney Rhys Jones as managing director. Rhys Jones aged 36, was formerly with the AIM listed venture capital company, Low Carbon Investors. Juliet Davenport, CEO of Good Energy Group said Rhys Jones would be “a great asset in helping Good Energy in its quest to drive innovation and increase renewable energy usage in the UK."
Wave and tidal power developer, Aquamarine Power has secured the services of acclaimed engineering design guru, Professor Stephen Salter as a specialist advisor this month. Martin McAdam, Chief Executive of Aquamarine claimed Professor Salter “could be likened to the founding father of wave power.”
In the US Marc Wiseman has joined Ricardo, from Third Planet Windpower, where he was responsible for developing utility scale wind power. In his new role Wiseman will head the Ricardo Inc. advanced & clean energy product group.
Verdezyne, who develop processes for the fuel markets, today announced the appointment of Damien Perriman to the position of vice president of business development with a mandate for the commercialisation of bioprocesses for converting renewable raw materials to biobased industrial products.
Following changes to the board announced earlier this year, solar energy specialist Entech Solar, has added GridPoint CEO Peter Corsell to its board of directors. Corsell is CEO and founder of GridPoint, a leading smart grid company. He also chairs the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Alternative Energies and serves on a number of boards.
Energy Recovery Inc, the California-based desalination energy-recovery technology company has announced the appointment of two new directors this month, Stanford University professor Dr M Elisabeth Pate-Cornell and Jackalyne Pfannenstiel, former chair of the California Energy Commission.
Constellation Energy, the electricity supplier and generator has named James Connaughton, former chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, as executive vice president, corporate affairs, public and environmental policy. In this newly created role, Connaughton will direct the company’s environmental and energy policy matters.
Van Jones, has been appointed by President Barack Obama as special advisor for green jobs, enterprise and innovation at the White House Council on Environmental Quality this month. Jones is the founder of Green For All, a national organisation that promotes an inclusive green economy. Jones' job in his words will “help shape the administration's energy and climate policy, so that climate solutions produce jobs and justice for all Americans.”
American Environmental Energy, the developer and manager of renewable and alternative energy sources, has released details of the appointment of Steven Byle to its board of directors. Byle, 41, brings 20 years of experience and technology development in the energy industry to the company.
Schneider Power, one of Canada's premier renewables firms and project developers has added Jeremy Rakusin to its board of directors. Rakusin is currently vice president and portfolio manager at Trapeze Capital Corporation.
EnerWorks, the North American solar thermal technology provider made three hires during March, Jay Raes as training manager, Rob Singlehurst as applications engineer and Kirk Hansen as sales manager, Eastern Canada.
Japan
In Japan Hitachi, the electronics giant has appointed Koji Tanaka to the new position of general manager of renewable energy & smart grid. Prior to accepting the internal move Koji was general manager of Hitachi’s nuclear systems.
The country’s biggest maker of wind-turbine generators, Suzlon Energy, named Robin Banerjee as chief financial officer. Banerjee joins from Essar Steel Holdings, where he was CFO and a member of the board.
