Basic Function

The Senior Manager of Risk Policy and Insurance will play a key role on the Commercialization and Risk team. The individual will be deeply knowledgeable about corporate risk management and insurance while curious about advancing the strategies and tools the industry uses to solve these issues. The successful candidate will be a team player and will work closely with executives, finance, development, EPC, and operating teams.  

Responsibilities:   

  • Lead and develop corporate efforts to build out comprehensive risk policies.
  • Drive and lead on all aspects of corporate and project level insurance, including preparation of cost/benefit analysis of insurance options, third party risk analysis, finance consultant reports, and alternative financing options for both construction and operations.
  • Work closely with broker partner to manage insurance budget and timing expectations.
  • Develop, analyze, and address risk assessment tools for the company.
  • Support in the development SBE roadmap for risk solutions including insurance (including general liability, property, excess, directors and officers, cyber, etc.), capital market products (parametric insurance, catastrophe bonds, etc.)
  • Evaluate SBE options for creating captive Insurance platform.
  • Identify the most attractive opportunities based on expected cost savings and the range of uncertainty around potential losses and prepare recommendations for management review.
  • Work closely with Development, Projects, and Asset Management to ensure support of respective insurance strategies and mechanisms to lower risk in project operations.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field. 
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience (experience in a risk management department of a corporation/insurance broker/ brokerage house preferred).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the energy and renewable sector preferred.
  • Finance and risk management background. Knowledge in captive insurance is a plus.
  • Experience with Risk Management Information Systems is a plus.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail oriented with ability to maintain focus through completion of projects.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; San Diego, CA; Austin, TX; preferred but not required. Open to remote work.

The position requires some domestic and international travel. 

 

Base Pay - $120,000 - $160,000

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, such as skill set, experience, certifications, specific work location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Base pay may vary per location due to differences in the cost of living.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual discretionary bonus, full Health & Wellness Benefits package, generous Long Term Incentive plan designed with our partnership mentality in mind, and other applicable incentive perks as outlined in any formal offer made. The final compensation package will be discussed with the candidate during the final stages of the hiring process.
